Today is the day when an EU wide ban for the production of 60Watt Incandescent Light Bulbs and the importing of them into the UK comes into effect.

The death warrant of incandescent bulbs was signed by the EU leaders back in 2007 to help meet climate change targets but many people feel strongly about the power of choice being taken from them. What's next? Baths that can only hold 2 inches of water!

The 60Watt light bulb has long been the most popular choice for British homes and this will cause an influx of people to go out onto the high streets and on-line to bulk buy what's left on the shelves and why? Because we all hate the alternative – the dreaded CFL bulbs.

As most of us know, the CFL low energy bulbs not only look ugly, but they are slow to warm up, emit a dim, cold light and frequently flicker and buzz.  On top of this, many people believe that the CFL light bulbs are the cause of migraines, skin rashes and epileptic fits.  What's more, they contain mercury, making them potentially hazardous and hard to dispose of.

But there IS an alternative – The new LED Low Energy Light Bulbs from Ledon have overcome all of the pitfalls that are associated with the CFL bulbs.
